Hey everyone, I have a Craftsman dyt 4000. I bought the mower new in 2004 it has 336 hours on it 18.5 hp with a 42"deck. I am thinking about getting a larger mower and I am just wondering what I might be able to get out of my old one. I've pushed the bypass lever all the way in but it will rolls freely. When I trace the bypass lever back I can feel it moving the switch on the transmission. Most older Craftsman ran Ogura clutches and they are proud of them. I've become a fan of Extreme Clutches. Really well designed and durable clutches. Yes, safety circuit is not complete! Put seat switch back, if you have not already. I started noticing early this season that it would occasionally have trouble getting up hills. This would happen even while I was already moving fine up a relatively small incline (15-20 degrees, I would say). It is almost as if the gas isn't getting to the engine.Posted: Aug 26, 2011 Options Turn your mower off and check how the blades turn underneath the deck. Any obstruction, damaged pulley shaft, or seized pulley can be the cause of that. We replaced the carb and it ran good and cut great last summer. We used it for the first time this spring last week. Now the blades are turning but not really fast like normal. It isn’t cutting the grass, just pushing it over. Jun 23, 2015 · #1 dyt 4000 model#917.273620 24hp briggs when I pull the pto the engine stalls.so i made sure nothing was froze and spun freely .... kept playing with knob and i found a happy medium that the blades turned,but the switch wasnt locked in the "on".so here i thought HEY its gotta be the switch bought new one and installed and still at square one My Craftsman YT4000 - won't leave "free wheel" mode. I've pushed the bypass lever all the way in but it will rolls freely. When I trace the bypass lever back I can feel it moving the switch on the transmission. Mower runs fine and blades will engage but it won't move forward or backward. Drive belt looks fine.My craftsman stop moving forward or backward after finishing the front lawn. Went to do the back lawn, applied the brake, disengaged the blades got off the tractor to move some obstacles, got back on, engaged the blades released the brake and nothing, no reverse no forward just a loud screech whenever I move the selector from neutral to forward or reverse..
